Quotes:
Phoebe Eclair-Powell, Executive Producer and Writer, Tommy & Tuppence: “As a lifelong Agatha fan it was a dream come true to adapt her Partners in Crime and bring Tommy & Tuppence's spark into a contemporary world. Viewers can expect the high energy sleuthing, caper-ish DNA and romance of the originals, but they have been given such a new lease of life thanks to Antonia and Josh, whose chemistry and delight in the characters just makes it such a joy to watch. And then of course the cherry on top - Imelda Staunton lends such gravitas and wit to the character of Aunt Ada. I know she will become a firm fan favourite. It was an honour to have her at the helm of the show. I hope Agatha would approve!”
Robert Schildhouse, President of BritBox: “Our viewers have repeatedly demonstrated how meaningful Agatha Christie’s storytelling is to them, with her mysteries consistently ranking on BritBox's list of most-watched titles. We’re proud to keep her legacy alive with our premier collection of Agatha Christie titles and a longstanding commitment to presenting new Agatha Christie BritBox Originals on the service. We’re also thrilled to offer a first look at Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence, whose characters are brilliantly brought to life by Antonia Thomas, Josh Dylan and Imelda Staunton. We can’t wait for BritBox viewers to enjoy this contemporary take on the beloved duo’s adventures.”
James Prichard, CEO of Agatha Christie Limited: “We have been partnering with BritBox for some time, both on our new adaptations, and on our catalogue of previous shows. They are such a good home for my great grandmother’s works. The stories obviously work for their existing audience, but these fresh takes also attract a new audience. Tommy and Tuppence (having a contemporary setting) is a bit different to the shows we have made before. But at its heart is my great grandmother’s storytelling and characters, and I am sure the BritBox audience will love it.”
Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence is not the only new Agatha Christie series coming to the service. Last year, BritBox and the BBC also announced a television adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Endless Night, a three-part series produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited, penned by BAFTA winner Sarah Phelps (The Sixth Commandment –also on BritBox), her sixth Agatha Christie adaptation.
